Colombia: from the Andes to the Caribbean

Bogotá is the capital of Colombia, located in the center of the country on a vast plateau in the Andes at 2,600 meters above sea level. It has a population of nearly eight million people from all over the world. It is a city that reflects the cultural diversity of Colombia, being the most important cultural center in the country and a place rich in sites to visit and activities to do. Declared World Book Capital by UNESCO and Ibero-American Capital of Culture by UCCI, Bogotá has become one of the most important cities on the continent, with large green public spaces, squares, modern streets, and avenues. The main tourist center is Rodadero, ten minutes from Santa Marta. White sandy beaches and calm waters suitable for water sports make Rodadero one of the most sought-after places by tourists. In this area, there are numerous hotels, restaurants, bars, and nightclubs, where you can enjoy the joy of Caribbean music. A few minutes by boat from Rodadero, you can find the Aquarium and the Sea Museum, where you can observe marine fauna in its habitat. The Ciénaga Grande de Santa Marta is the stage for surreal sunrises where the horizon line is so blurred that observers cannot distinguish whether they are sailing in the sky or gliding on the water. On the other hand, Taganga is a beach famous for its sunsets, which can be admired from any of its numerous beach kiosks while enjoying a meal or a snack.

Cartagena is rich in culture, history, charm, and mystery. Cartagena is an open-air jewel, and in every corner, you can breathe history and poetry, especially in the old city, full of pastel-colored palaces and balconies and window cornices in bright white. Not to be missed are the Fortress of San Felipe, the Monastery of San Pedro Claver, and the Monastery of La Popa, from where you can admire a beautiful panorama. Among the best museums to visit are the Naval Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Gold Museum with many pre-colonial artifacts. San Andrés is a Colombian island located in the Caribbean Sea, known for its white sandy beaches, crystal clear waters and tropical atmosphere. It is part of the archipelago of San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina, and is a popular tourist destination for those seeking an exotic paradise. The San Andrés Barrier Reef is one of the largest in the world and offers a rich marine environment to explore. The island is also known for its laid-back lifestyle and unique culture, influenced by several ethnic groups, including Afro-Colombians, Creoles and Raizales.
