Day 2 — Johannesburg → Mapungubwe National Park
Breakfast, departure to, Mapungubwe National Park is located in the Limpopo Province, on the border with Botswana and Zimbabwe, and is a site of extraordinary historical, cultural, and natural significance.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2003, Mapungubwe preserves the remains of an ancient African kingdom that flourished between the 11th and 14th centuries. From a landscape perspective, the park is characterized by vast plateaus, wind-sculpted sandstone formations, isolated hills (kopjes), baobab groves, and a network of seasonal rivers. It is a unique ecosystem that hosts a wide variety of wildlife: elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos, antelopes, giraffes, hippos, and over 400 bird species.
