Day 2 — Johannesburg → Mapungubwe National Park
Breakfast, departure to, Mapungubwe National Park is located in the Limpopo Province, on the border with Botswana and Zimbabwe, and is a site of extraordinary historical, cultural, and natural significance.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2003, Mapungubwe preserves the remains of an ancient African kingdom that flourished between the 11th and 14th centuries. From a landscape perspective, the park is characterized by vast plateaus, wind-sculpted sandstone formations, isolated hills (kopjes), baobab groves, and a network of seasonal rivers. Some days are clear and sunny, while others are gray with afternoon thunderstorms., April-June, the rains are over! Everything is fresh and new with clear skies; moderate daytime temperatures, and the wildlife begins to gather around permanent water holes, making it easier to spot them., July-September: dry, with clear days and an average daytime temperature of 25°C, nighttime temperatures between 0 and 10°C; animal sightings are excellent, migratory birds start arriving in August.
